Rahul Sharma is a popular entrepreneur and co-founder of Micromax company from India who started his functional journey from 2000 at an young age 25. Rahul began his journey in the late 90s when his father gifted him a computer. He was highly influenced by technology and eventually launched Micromax Software, in 2000 with three of his friends and the company ‘Micromax’ initially worked on low-end technology products. This initiative was extended in 2001 when Nokia joined hands with the company and became its partner. The company expanded its interest to dual-SIM phones and as a result, Micromax became the first company in India to launch a dual-SIM phone with a “single baseband”. As of January 2014, Micromax sold around 2 million handsets and 80,000 tablets per month. Rahul’s company Micromax eventually developed a frequency-conversion tool for Bharti Airtel Limited, which allowed it to deploy a large network of “payphones”, he joined Shaw Communications Inc. in February 2004 as their vice president for on-demand television services. He worked in corporate sales and marketing, also overseeing the marketing and development of Shaw’s on-demand products such as pay-per-view, video-on-demand, and digital pay television.
